The relatively long history of Dayton

August 2, 2021 by Megan LoPresti

Carson City, Dayton, Genoa, Washoe Valley, Reno….really, all of the towns, ghost towns and trails in between are so rich in history. It’s incredible to be surrounded by it, to live in it, and even more incredible to have the opportunity to learn  about it every day. It’s the foundation our modern lives and laws are built on. I have so much interest in learning more about our forefathers and what influenced their lives and decisions. I love to read books and articles about our history, especially when they are written by multi-generation Nevada family members or by local historians who love to explore and share our rich history. I know there are so many others who enjoy this history the way I do, so instead of just saving links, articles and books about Nevada to my personal digital reading list, I’m going to start saving them to my blog and website too. Hopefully, this will help my clients and friends to share in the love of history with me. If anyone reading this blog has websites, articles or book about Nevada history you think I might have interest in, please post in the comments or email your suggestions to me at megan@rcmnevada.com.  – Megan LoPresti

Here’s the article I was reading that made me think to write this post…..

A frontiersman guiding a group of emigrants to California discovered gold nuggets at the mouth of Gold Creek Canyon near where it empties into the Carson River.
